Extensive Research Policy
St. Clair County Library primarily provides library services to the residents of
the county and visitors to the area. The Library also receives long distance
information requests, particularly for information that is unique to this area.
Because of the increased cost of research time, photocopying, correspondence and
mailing, the St. Clair County Library charges for research and photocopies
provided by the library staff, including information concerning local history
and genealogy. The fee schedule is the following:
Research fees
- Research service charge per hour: $20.00 (prorated on the quarter hour)
Copy fees
- One page copied, including mailing per request: $2.00
- Each additional copy: $.25
For example, if you are requesting copies from newspaper microfilm and can
supply the exact date (s), copy fee charges only apply. If library staff has to
search for dates or search the microfilm within a range of dates, research fees
and copy charges will apply.
If these fees are acceptable to you, please send a letter describing the
specifics of your information request to the following address:
Reference Department
St. Clair County Library
210 McMorran Blvd
Port Huron, MI 48060
Please include your return mailing address and your email address in the event
that the Reference staff needs to contact you for further clarification on your
request. You will receive the requested information along with an itemized
invoice for the research and copying fees.
If you have any questions about this process, please contact the Reference staff
